So being the diehard functionalist I sometimes am, I am contemplating Arjun Appadurai's position on commodity exchange, and pulling together a few references and critiques to his theory on commodity exchange. Why? Why not. So I am especially interested to read Appadurai 'The Social Life of Things', 1986, being used to illustrate the position that everything can be commoditised, and exchanged, and that this process is socially meaningful, being applied in new and interesting ways, and within braoder discussions of ‘commoditization’ and ‘singularization'. Any thoughts/additions welcome.
