Dear All,
A two-day Ancient Cremations workshop is to be held on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th October 2009 at the School of History and Archaeology, Cardiff University. The workshop will be hosted by the Cardiff Osteoarchaeology Research Group Laboratory (Principal organisers: IFA/HLF workplace bursary holder Ms. Róisín McCarthy and Dr. Jacqui Mulville). The themes for the workshop are advances in the field of cremation analysis, the interpretation of ancient cremation ritual practice as evidenced by burnt bone morphology and the rite of cremation in the past.
The workshop will follow a seminar style format whereby delegates will be encouraged to engage in lively discussion and debate on a wide range of topics relating to the analysis of cremated bone and the ancient cremation rite. Confirmed talks will address a diverse and interesting range of topics encompassing research from across the UK and Ireland. A provisional programme for the event is available via the webpage link below.
The deadline for registration is Wednesday 30th September 2009. As places are limited early registration is recommended. Please refer to the link below for more details.
